What is this new food Chia Seeds?

I have found the most marvelous new food and want to share it with everyone. There is now more and more information coming out about the benefits of incorporating Raw Organic Chia Seeds into your daily diet.

According to Wikipedia “Chia Seeds aka Salvia hispanica”, is a species of flowering plant in the mint family native to central and southern Mexico and Guatemala.

Chia seeds typically contain about 20 percent protein, 30 percent fat and 40 percent carbohydrates.

Chia Seeds have a very mild flavor (no “fishy” taste like other foods high in Omega-3 acids) and hold 12xs the water. They are crunchy and have a nutty flavor and are fun to eat.

Chia Seeds are rich in Antioxidants, Full of important nutrients and have the highest known whole-food source of Omega-3 acids. Also they are a very good source of fiber and manganese, are low in sodium and cholesterol-free. I love the seeds and they are fun, convenient & versatile.

After so many positive effects, I became interested in learning more how this food can benefit us all. They are an excellent food source including: fiber, calcium, protein and omega3 for the entire body & the skin as well. They also are known to build endurance and are Gluten Free. Where are Chia Seeds grown?

Chia originated in Mexico and now grow in Mexico and in Central and South Americas and were used by the Aztecs for medicinal purposes.

The 16th century Codex Mendoza provides evidence that it was cultivated by the Aztec in pre-Columbian times: economic historians have suggested that it was a important as maize as a food crop. It is still used in Mexico and Guatemala, with the seeds sometimes ground, while whole seeds are used for nutritious drinks as a food source. Chia Seeds {say “Chee-ah”}: are an ancient long-forgotten food crop of Native American’s and the Aztecs who also used Chia Seeds medicinally to relive skin conditions and to relieve joint pain. Chia Seeds have been rediscovered~as a 21st-Century “Superfood.

Chia Seeds are different than Flax seeds as they can either be ground or can even be swallowed whole, or soaked in any liquid like water or fruit juice. The Seeds won’t alter the taste of foods when it’s used as an ingredient. It can be sprinkled on all of your foods or be eaten as a snack.

Soaking seeds makes them gelatinous and can be used in porridge’s and puddings.

– add them to smoothies, milkshakes or protein shakes

– sprinkle them on cereal, oatmeal, salad or soup

– add them to any muffin, cookie, or cake recipe

– add them to pancake batter before you cook the cakes

– put them on peanut butter & jelly sandwiches

Again, those are just a few because you can literally add them to just about any food because their flavor is very mild and will not interfere with the flavor of the food you add them to.
